Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cigna PPO plans.

How much does therapy cost?

Sessions are $200 per hour, if you’d prefer not to or cannot use insurance. Healing Place offers sliding scale sessions for those experiencing financial hardship.

How long will I be in therapy?

The answer to this question can vary so much! Sometimes clients come to therapy for support with a specific life change (a new job or break-up as examples). Some EMDR clients want to target a specific distressing event like a car accident or mugging. A good answer for all of these clients is 3-6 months. Other clients have been victims of abuse, and have complex or attachment/developmental trauma. This can complicate several aspects of their lives, and those clients may find longer term therapy helpful. Most therapy finishes within 1-3 years.

Do you prescribe medication?

We do not provide medication at Healing Place. We support clients who choose to utilize psychotropic medication, and may refer a client to get assessed for medication if they continue to experience distressing symptoms as they progress through EMDR and/or talk therapy.

What if I get asked something that I don’t want to talk about?

We will never force you to talk about a topic that you feel unable or uncomfortable discussing. Good therapy involves trust and safety – feelings that are easy for some, and very difficult for others. You can expect to open up at a pace that feels best for you, without pressure. EMDR can target trauma without long conversations about it, which is quite a relief for many.

What are the confidentiality rules?

We are bound by law to keep anything you report in therapy private, unless you are a threat to yourself or someone else. Child or elder neglect or abuse (physical, sexual, emotional) will also be reported. We are always happy to coordinate with your other providers as long as you provide written permission for us to do so.
